CDChoices Announces Appointment of Interim CEO

The Consumer Directed Choices (CDChoices) Board of Directors wishes to thank outgoing CEO Elizabeth Martin for her many years of outstanding service. Elizabeth came in to CDChoices as Chief Operating Officer and took over as CEO when our founder, Constance Laymon, passed away unexpectedly in 2012. Earlier today, Living Resources announced that Elizabeth Martin has been named their new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2020. We wish Elizabeth great success at Living Resources.

The Board has appointed current CFO, Chris Graber, as interim CEO. Chris will be leading the team during this transition. A Siena College graduate, Chris has been with CDChoices since 2006.

Chris plays a significant leadership role with CDChoices. “While Chris’ role has primarily focused on financial performance, he has continually demonstrated strategic leadership qualities across every element of the organization. We have a high-level of confidence in Chris’ ability to lead us through this transition period” Jane-Marie Schaeffer, Board Chair, CDChoices.

During his over 9-year tenure as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”), Chris has improved operations and driven company growth. Chris identifies opportunities to introduce technology and workflow innovation to achieve optimal efficiency and scalability. “He has implemented systems and practices that have enabled CDChoices to more than double in size in just 5 years and achieve a cash flow that is significantly better than average within the home care industry” Elizabeth Martin, Outgoing CEO.

During this time of transition, the Board remains focused on CDChoices remaining a leading fiscal intermediary in New York State and is committed to working with the agency’s entire staff during this time.

When it comes to your care, you want to work with people who understand your needs and treat you with the respect you deserve. CDChoices is a private, nonprofit corporation located in Albany, New York. We were founded in 1997 by the late Constance Laymon, a woman with a disability, to empower people to choose their own home care. We continue to be run both by people with disabilities and by advocates who share Constance’s dream of changing the way home care service is delivered. Our Board of Directors is a balanced group of program users, their family members, and other individuals dedicated to the Consumers’ right to manage their care.
