Peer Mentors use their expertise in an area to help others achieve success in the same area. Peer Mentors provide advice, support, and encouragement to those with less experience. In other words, they serve as role models for those learning a new skill set.
Meet Margie C, Peer Mentor
Margie joined the staff at Consumer Directed Choices in March 2012, after completing an intensive Peer Counselor Training program. As someone who’s used Consumer Directed Personal Assistance (CDPA) herself for several years, she enjoys providing support and encouragement to other people with disabilities as they seek a choice in their home care.
After receiving traditional care from nursing agencies for over 20 years, Margie is passionate about CDPA. She knows having the power and the choice to direct your own home care can be far better than relying upon someone who barely knows you to do it. As CDChoices’s Peer Mentor, she acts as a cheerleader for others who seek the same independence she’s found.
